Oyster theft – Rainbow Reach – Mid North Coast Police District

Rural Crime Investigators from Mid North Coast Police District are investigating the theft of a number of oysters from a commercial lease on a Macleay River tributary, Rainbow Reach. This incident is believed to have occurred sometime between the 15th and 17th November 2021.

The offender/s trespassed onto the lease and removed approximately 70 dozen bistro and A grade oysters from their baskets which had been destined for sale during the upcoming Christmas/New Year period.

Members of the public are being encouraged to report person/s selling black market oysters and oyster theft. Anyone with information is asked to contact Rural Crime Investigators at Kempsey Police Station on (02) 6561 6199 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information is treated in strict confidence. The community is reminded not to report crime via NSW Police social media pages.
